Drones for Smart Agriculture
Sri Lanka
The Drones for Smart Agriculture is an innovation developed by CIC, and which uses drones for “smart agriculture practices”, such as scanning fields and distributing agrochemicals and fertilizer with minimum human involvement or wastage. Under this initiative, CIC has developed a technology to scan weeds in large paddy fields using battery-powered drones and spray chemicals to them using the drone. To ensure success, the company has spent the past eight years conducting research and carrying out studies to implement this new technology, which aims to reduce chemical use and lessen environmental impact.
