Nepal
Kisan Credit Cards(QR based card) provide farmers with timely access to credits through a secure and faster method of payment. This is mainly done through farmers with card can transact with agro merchants, as well as withdraw money and make payments to cashpoint agents (with point of sales - POS machine). The mobile application developed under this initiative can be used by farmers, agri-businesses, agricultural merchants and cooperatives. A pilot project is also being executed by UNCDF which aims at digitalizing payment and financing services in the dairy industry to improved access to finance for dairy producers in Nepal. Training participant farmers to use digital platforms as a tool to settle their transactions and availing financial services, the project managed to enhance income-generating capacity. Therefore, digitalizing payment and financial services in agriculture require awareness building and training for the beneficiary to make a policy successful.
